This screen capture is a plot generated by a
lightning detector collocated at my server site in Boynton Beach, FL.
We are located approximately 8 miles South of West Palm Beach,
in
the exact center of the map, at the "+"
First,
some information:
The type and polarity of new strikes are indicated by
symbols,
as illustrated in the legend. Dots that fade in color from yellow through
dark red indicate older strikes. The correlation between time and color can be
found in the legend.
The display typically reflects a total of the last 20
minutes activity for
any given period.
There
are several controls on the map for your use. Thirty or Sixty minute
history can be displayed with the push of a button. You can zoom in on
the
range of the map. There is also a feature to run a loop of the latest
archived data.
